Thomas Jonathan Stonewall Jackson was a confederate general during the American civil war. During his early childhood days and then seven years after the death of his mother, Stonewall lived at Jackson’s Mill (located in present day Lewis County central West Virginia). His uncle, Cummins Jackson, owned a grist mill in Jackson’s Mill, with whom he spent some years after being orphaned. The local community at Jackson’s Mill celebrates Stonewall Jackson Jubilee, which is a festival featuring food, crafts, music and historic reenactments.
